Impact
In 2022, Yonkers Arts made a significant impact on the community, successfully implementing over 45 programs and projects throughout the City of Yonkers. These initiatives engaged 300+ creatives of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences, highlighting the organization’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.
Through its programs, Yonkers Arts has created opportunities for individuals to showcase their talents, develop their skills, and create connections. These programs have helped to foster creativity and innovation, promoting the arts as a means for personal growth, social change, and community building. Yonkers Arts impact is evident in the growing number of artists and art enthusiasts it has engaged and inspired over the years. The organization’s commitment to promoting the arts as a transformative force for good has helped to create a vibrant and inclusive artistic community in Yonkers, benefiting individuals and the city as a whole.

Let's Make a Play
This 6-week progam guides youth through the process of developing their own 10-minute plays. Starting for idea to a full play, the class will include a discuss about the structural components of developing plays as well as character development, establishing tone, setting, and creating structure.

Summer Intensive Film Program
In collaboration with Sarah Lawrence College and S.I.C. Film School, this week-long film program offered participants an opportunity to visit Sara Lawrence College and S.I.C. Film School while learning basic filmmaking techniques, how to use drones, and how to use holograms while creating their own documentaries.

Art of Social Justice
The Art of Social Justice is a 6-week program that was offered at Dayspring Community Center. Summer camp participants were introduced to social justice issues that they face in their community, while being instructed on art techniques to help them install a permanent mural at the center.

Intro to Pro Tools
In collaboration with Ruff Ryders 2 The Rescue, this young adult program introduces participants to the intricacies of music production using Pro Tools at Ruff Ryders’ Powerhouse Studios.

Art in Motion
Focuses on the movement of dance being a form of physical education. Each week participants will be introduced to a new style of dance including Latin dance, Hip-Hop, African dance, ballet, and contemporary dance.

Youth Podcast Program
This program introduces students to the intricacies of cinematography, how to use different audio devices to record speech, as well as journalistic and interviewing skills, while encouraging them to utilize their voices through artistic expression. Episodes are available on our YouTube channel.

Recycled Artwork Program
This 4-week program taught participants the importance of reducing waste, explored ways of repurposing plastics to reuse them, and the importance of recycling properly. Participants created artwork from recycled goods including a recycled bottle sun catcher and sunflower, paper tube monsters, and a recycled paper self-portrait.

Intro to Audio Engineering
Designed to engage young musicians who want to learn and increase their knowledge of manipulating sound and ‘moving the crowd’ via various delivery methods. From constructing music to mixing, this program taps into the creative’s desire for music engineering.

I Am A Hero
The program, created by Evan Bishop,helps students identify their 'powers' and takes them through a 10-session workshop on socio-behavioral development, including the history of Black and Latino superheroes and the full 360-degree spectrum of the 'Hero's Journey'.

Youth Filmmaking Program
This filmmaking program introduces participants to the basics of filmmaking including recording, editing, and storyline development.

For The Love of Hip Hop
This program combined an introduction to DJ’ing techniques with an educational history of five decades of hip hop. Participants were assigned a decade of music to research and taught how to put together a ‘set’ of music.

Artist Showcase Series
This weekly instalment was hosted virtually by Katori Walker. It featured conversations with local artists and entrepreneurs.

Parkway Love
Designed by Jason Naylor, this mural is located on the Bronx River Road and is part of a city-wide initiative to combat graffiti.

On The Come Up
This mural, located at Calcagno Homes, was designed by Robin Alcantara and honors Yonkers’ native Ella Fitzgerald.

Community Art Project
In collaboration with the Municipal Housing Authority for the City of Yonkers, we have been able to bring 150+ pieces of art to MHACY properties.

Community Fridge
Local organizations collaborated to bring the first community fridge to Yonkers. It is located at St. Peter’s Childcare Center and provides free food to community members in need.

Art in the Park
Aims to beautify parks and basketball courts in communities through commissioned murals, and sculptures, and utilizing natural landmarks as artworks.

Community Library
Aims to establish a community library system built on the ‘take a book, leave a book’ philosophy to ensure an ongoing rotation of books.

STAY AT HOME CONCERT SERIES
Yonkers Arts’ #StayHome Concert Series featured local artists. It was live-streamed on Facebook and Instagram from May to November 2020.

HAVANA NIGHTS AT YOHO
Yonkers Arts hosted a series of spoken word and open mic nights at the Yonkers Arts Project Space.

Yonkers Arts and the Unison Experience collaborated to offer the Music & Art Mash Up Concert Series featuring live art demonstrations.
