Waterfalls Family Art Cruise

Wednesday, August 27, 2008, 5:30 – 8:30 PM

Cruise down the Hudson on the Watertaxi to see the

Olafur Eliasson Waterfalls

Depart and Return by Watertaxi at the Yonkers Pier, foot of Main St.

$25 adults; $15 children 3 to 16 years old

(children under 3 free)Please make checks payable to “Yonkers Arts” andbring them with you at departure.

Watertaxi leaves Yonkers Pier promptly at 5:30 PM.

Please allow ample time to park and walk to Pier, arriving NO LATER than 5:15 PM for pre-boarding. Metered parking (enforced until 6 PM) is available on the street or you can park in the Buena Vista Garage (entrances on Hudson or Hawthorne).

Bring a brown bag or buy food at South Street Seaport

Barbara Segal, public artist and Adjunct Professor at SVA,will give a lecture on artist Olafur Eliasson’s work.

Haifa Bint-Kadi, Artist-in-Residence, Hudson River Museum,will give a hands-on workshop at the South Street Seaport to create a pop-up card that will evoke the spirit of the waterfalls.

Satish is a painter, printmaker and sculptor who works comfortably in all media. His abstract and representational paintings feature textured surfaces with a three-dimensional appearance, created through his use of layers of acrylics which are finished with an oil color wash. His paintings and prints explore light, color and texture.

Collected internationally, Stained Glass is a medium of expression that I work with, since 1997. My jewelry creations juxtapose ear lobes to abstract glass panel fabrications for windows. Adam Gertsacov is an actor, director, and clown based in Yonkers, NY. He is the most educated clown in America (barring certain elected officials)Adam wears many hats, including that of a flea circus impresario (psycho-entomologist), a teacher of physical comedy (slapstickologist!), a Barbie doll puppeteer (barbi-ologist?), and the esteemed hat of the Clown Laureate of Greenbelt, Maryland. Adam is also the festival director of Bright Night Providence, an artist-run New Year’s Eve Festival in Providence, RI, his home state.
